Dramaturgy, writing, making

I am a dramaturg and theatre researcher with a particular interest in political, feminist and queer theatre, collaborative practices, theatre translation, and opera. Part of my dramaturgical practice is translating and adapting plays. I have written a feminist translation (or adaptation, depending on where you stand on the matter) of late nineteenth-century playwright Minna Canth’s The Worker’s Wife, as well as producing annotated translations of her plays for my book, Four Plays by Minna Canth: Experiments in Feminist Realism. Currently, I am working on translating plays by feminist-socialist turn-of-the-century Finnish playwright Elvira Willman. In addition, to translating, I write for theatre, and last year wrote a play called ‘Making it Personal’ as part of a research project into pregnancy, risk and genetics. I particularly enjoy research-based and collaborative writing.

I am a founding member of theatre company Good Friends for a Lifetime, with whom I continue to write, make and perform. Our play The Netherhole Martyr was published by Strange Region Press in 2025.
